NBTA Global
Many of NBTA member buyers are responsible for global travel management operations. NBTA's awareness of this growing trend has caused us to expand our potential through subsidiaries: NBTA Asia Pacific, NBTA Canada and NBTA Mexico. These recently developed organizations, expanding associations in themselves with full time staff and a diverse program of education and certification product, have been augmented through bi-lateral partnerships in areas including Brazil, China, Londonand Thailand. Meetings in these regions are included on the attached schedule of NBTA global activities for 2007 - 2008.
We regularly poll our members to see where their own business is growing, where they send travelers and subsequently where they need additional information and education products. We also poll our suppliers members to find out where they are looking for new business opportunities and/or where they look to strengthen existing customer relationships. Along with emerging markets indicated above, both supplier and buyer members of NBTA rank the European Union region as an area of importance and growth. We believe it is the second most developed region of business travel next to that of the United States. Accordingly, NBTA has hired a Manager of European Operations, based in Paris and have begun planning for a pan-European conference scheduled for May15 -16 in Milan, Italy. Interest in this event is reflected in the fact that over 90 % of booths at the trade show incorporated into the conference are already sold. This is an event that is expected to draw over 250 attendees from the EU and those responsible for business travel in the region.
NBTA's association with our Paragon partners, eleven buyer led organizations, primarily in Europe, is another clear indication of NBTA's global strength and cooperation to bring events and education to the European region. The Milanmeeting will be called Crossroads Milan: Paragon Business Travel Conference and Expo. A steering committee of leading European travel buyers, including representatives from the Paragon Partnership is designing a conference which will reflect the diversity as well as common regional business travel management issues. Through NBTA's strong resources of knowledge, staff, education and organization we will provide useful education, trade show and networking events to broaden travel management professionals knowledge and meet expectations of our industry.
Finally, NBTA's annual international convention and exposition is clearly a growing global showcase of products, education and participation. Representatives from over 38 countries attended our latest show in Boston. Over 500 attendees came from outside the United States with the United Kingdom, Brazil, Germany, Mexico, Australia, France, Japan and Singapore bringing in double digit contingents totaling over 275 registrants. While there is clearly a strong domestic presence at the convention, just a brief walk through the exposition will immediately demonstrate a significant global flavor of those doing business in our world of business travel.
NBTA's strength as a global association with a mandate to represent business travel buyers is the obvious membership choice for travel buyers who are charged to make confident decisions in the global marketplace. We have more international programs, a growing reputation on the world's business travel stage and the resources to make this happen in a global way. We look forward to receiving membership inquiries and promise an association environment with global potential for our members that is second to none.
